With the development of trade, the safety and quality requirements of buyers and consumers are constantly improving. The Malaysian government stipulates that if products are regularly shipped to Malaysia, suppliers need to apply for product certification. In 1998, Malaysia promulgated the new communications and multimedia Act 1998, which regulated the telecommunications services and market access conditions in detail.
At the same time, a new telecommunications regulatory agency, the Malaysia communications and Multimedia Commission (CMC), was born.
According to the law of communication and multimedia, when the communication equipment is put on the market, it is necessary to apply to CMC or the certification body designated by CMC for type certification and obtain the equipment certification certificate and certification mark.
The communication equipment testing section (CETs) under the jurisdiction of SIRIM is responsible for the type certification of communication equipment.
SIRIM is the only certification management organization in Malaysia. All electronic products entering Malaysia need to apply for SIRIM certification. In principle, the applicant should be a local institution in Malaysia. SIRIM QAS international is responsible for the application and management of SIRIM certification, from which SIRIM certificate is issued.
1. Contents of certification
Electrical safety;
Electromagnetic compatibility, the frequency is below 30kHz, between 26khz and 1300 MHz, and above 1000MHz;
The cooperation of telecommunication network includes public exchange network, cellular telephone network, data communication network and communication software;
Wireless communication, the frequency is below 30kHz, between 26khz and 1300 MHz, and above 1000MHz;
Optical communication;
Cables and accessories.
2. Contents of certification
The content of type approval includes situation report evaluation, laboratory test, on-site test, etc. if the equipment is only used for exhibition demonstration, application can be made to CMC of communication and multimedia Committee, and the special certificate can be obtained directly through the evaluation of written report.
Recently, SIRIM has revised some terms in its certification process, mainly as follows:
1. SIRIM certificate must be reviewed once a year, and the validity period is 5 years;
2. Corresponding to Article 1, the submission of the test report only accepts the test report of the qualified laboratory whose issuing date is not more than five years;
If the equipment approved by SIRIM for more than 5 years still needs to be sold in the Malaysian market, it must be sent back to the laboratory for testing and submit SIRIM application again, and the original SIRIM certificate will be expired and invalid;
In the process of SIRIM certification application in Malaysia, product testing can be completed through the laboratory, or it can be converted into SIRIM approval by submitting CB report and certificate. In this case, it is generally not necessary to submit sample testing again, but sometimes SIRIM will require customers to send samples to check the consistency between the samples identified on the original report and the submitted samples.
3. SIRIM certification mark:
After passing the type approval, the equipment manufacturer can obtain the certification certificate issued by SIRIM, and affix the SIRIM certification mark on the communication equipment.
