Introduction to NTC certification in Thailand
NTC (National Telecommunication Commission of Thailand) has made clear specifications and restrictions for telecommunication equipment, telecommunication terminal equipment and wireless products. Since July 1, 2008, for telecommunication equipment and telecommunication terminal equipment, the existing mandatory specifications for mobile communication products will be extended to wireless related products.
NTC certification mode
The following three modes are required for certification. The applicable certification mode can only be determined after the classification of products is determined:
Class a approval
Class a products must be tested in the laboratory designated by NTC and provided with the data required by NTC, and then get the login number and certificate.
Class B approval
The certification procedure is the same as class a product category, except that foreign reports such as FCC, CE, CB... Can be used for the certification application of transfer mode, and the login number and certification certificate must also be obtained.
SDoC declaration of conformity (SDoC)
This part of the product certification is voluntary. The SDoC form must be completed by the local representative of the customer in Thailand, and then sent to NTC together with the technical documents for reference.
Application for certification requires a local representative who must have a supplier code and apply in Thai.
Basically, the certification time is 4-5 weeks. The sample requirements are required in class A, and must be provided when class B is sometimes required for compliance review. SDoC mode is not required.
Products for WiFi (such as 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g) are classified in SDoC. Although NTC announced in 2003 that the output power of 2.4GHz products is below 100MW, it can be exempted from type approval. However, this regulation will be changed after July 2008. WiFi products can only be imported to Thailand after confirming that they meet the technical requirements of NTC. The declaration letter and relevant compliance documents shall be attached when the manufacturer passes the customs.
